Immunotherapy Toxicities: Diagnosis, Management, and Prognosis

July 11, 2023

- This dinner program will be a virtual (online) event. -

Immunotherapies are a group of treatments used to treat cancer.  Immunotherapy can use the power of the body’s immune system to prevent, control, and eliminate cancer. There are many different forms of immunotherapy, including checkpoint inhibitors, vaccines, CAR-T, and BiTE therapy. In this presentation, we will discuss the unique toxicities associated with these treatments, how to diagnose them, and provide management options.

Learning Objectives

  1. Recognize key elements that aid in establishing the diagnosis of various immune checkpoint inhibitor (ICI)-related toxicities
  2. Outline management strategies for ICI toxicities such as colitis and pneumonitis
  3. Review current data regarding the long-term adverse effects of ICIs and their implications
  4. Describe appropriate treatment plans for immune checkpoint inhibitor-related toxicities using patient case scenarios
  5. Discuss CAR-T and BiTE therapies and their toxicities

Target Audience

This activity is intended for oncology nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses, nurse navigators, medical assistants, and other healthcare providers involved in the care of cancer patients.
