Overview

Oncology Nursing 101 is an engaging, foundational program designed to help new oncology nurses build confidence and clinical competence. The course covers cancer basics, treatment modalities, symptom management, oncologic emergencies, survivorship, and the human side of care. Through case-based learning and dedicated opportunities for questions with expert faculty, participants will gain practical insight and a stronger foundation for delivering safe, compassionate oncology care.

**Defined as anyone employed by a drug, device, or diagnostic company. The primary goal of the conference is to educate practicing clinicians on the latest advances and strategies in the care of cancer patients. Because space is limited and to ensure sufficient seats are available for clinicians, Industry Employees may register as an attendee only if you have a clinical title (NP, PharmD, MD, PA, etc).

Learning Objectives

  1. Describe mechanisms of action, therapeutic uses, and key adverse effects of emerging cancer therapies relevant to oncology nursing practice.
  2. Recognize the role of biomarkers, molecular testing, and precision diagnostics in guiding treatment planning and patient education.
  3. Identify common toxicities, complications, and symptom management strategies associated with cancer therapies.
  4. Apply principles of safe medication administration, monitoring, and patient safety in the delivery of oncology treatments.
  5. Explain the roles of multidisciplinary team members and the nurse’s role in coordinating comprehensive cancer care.
  6. Discuss patient-centered supportive care strategies, including fertility preservation, sexual health, psychosocial support, and survivorship considerations.
  7. Summarize recent advances in oncology treatment and their implications for nursing care and patient outcomes.

Target Audience

This activity is intended for new oncology nurses, RN's needing a refresher, NPs, CNAs and other healthcare providers involved in the care of cancer patients.
