This practical, case-based educational program will help those caring for cancer patients to better understand the rising rates and ravaging comorbidities of anxiety and depression.
Learning Objectives.
• Diagnose and treat anxiety and depression in the oncology setting
• Review when and how to treat anxiety and depression using evidence-based principles in prescribing for cancer patients
• Examine how to best manage pharmacotherapy and when to refer to psychiatric specialists using case-based discussions
• Appropriately assess patients for suicide risk
Target Audience
This activity is intended for oncology nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses, nurse navigators, medical assistants, and other healthcare providers involved in the care of cancer patients.

Event Planner
Sarah Daniels, PA-C
Originally from Michigan, Sarah Daniel graduated from Western Michigan University with a bachelor’s degree in biomedical sciences. She earned her medical degree from the Medical College of Ohio, graduating with a master’s from the Physician Assistant program. Sarah began her oncology career in 2001 at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. Prior to relocating to Oregon in 2012, she served as stem cell transplant coordinator at Boston Medical Center and practiced at the University of Arizona Cancer Center. She joined Oregon Oncology Specialists in 2014. Sarah currently serves as the manager of a large team of advanced practice providers.
Sarah has a special interest in cancer survivorship and breast cancer in young women. She has helped lead Young Survivors PDX. Sarah has been active in the Advanced Practitioner Society in Hematology and Oncology and has co-authored articles for the Journal of the Advanced Practitioner in Oncology. Sarah enjoys spending time with her two children, traveling, hiking, playing tennis and gardening.

Pritham, Raj MD
Dr. Pritham Raj is a clinician-educator who is board certified in Internal Medicine, Psychiatry, and Psychosomatic Medicine. During his career, he has helped create novel mind-body care systems including Duke's Med-Psych Inpatient Unit (as Chief Resident), OHSU's award-winning Med-Psych outpatient teaching clinic, and Adventist Health Portland's Emotional Wellness Center which was a finalist for the AABH Program of the Year in 2019. In 2020 he became Chief Medical Officer at Active Path Mental Health, the 11th fastest growing small company in Oregon, engaged in the delivery of transcranial magnetic stimulation among other treatments for treatment resistant psychiatric conditions. He continues to teach as an Associate Professor at Oregon Health & Science University.
