Common Dermatologic Adverse Events in Oncology
- This dinner program will be a virtual (online) event. -
Overview
Cancer therapies can lead to adverse effects that affect the skin, hair, nails, and mucosa. These dermatologic toxicities extend beyond cosmetic concerns, significantly impacting the patients' well-being and adherence to treatment. This presentation will provide a comprehensive framework for preventing, recognizing, and managing common dermatologic adverse events seen in clinical practice. The goal is to equip clinicians with the knowledge and strategies needed to effectively minimize and manage these treatment-related dermatologic toxicities.
Learning Objectives:
- Describe the clinical presentation of common dermatologic adverse events resulting from targeted therapy, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy
- Review the grading and assessment tools used in the clinical evaluation of these toxicities
- Outline current standard-of-care approaches for prevention, early recognition, and management of each dermatologic adverse event, including supportive care strategies and patient education
Target Audience
This activity is intended for oncology nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses, nurse navigators, medical assistants, and other healthcare providers involved in the care of cancer patients.
