Overview
This lecture provides a focused exploration of the pivotal role of palliative care in the management of patients with cancer, alongside effective communication strategies for healthcare professionals. Participants will gain insights into the benefits of early integration of palliative care, frameworks for delivering serious news, and empathetic communication techniques to improve patient-centered care.
Target Audience
This CME initiative was designed for oncologists, surgeons, radiation oncologists, NPs, PAs, pharmacists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals involved in the treatment of patients with cancer.

Faculty
Dana Guyer, MD FAAHPM
Dana Levy Guyer, MD, is a palliative care physician at Lifespan Cancer Institute and Rhode Island Hospital. She received her medical degree from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. She completed her residency training in internal medicine and pediatrics, as well as her fellowship in palliative care and hospice, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She is board certified in hospice and palliative medicine, internal medicine, and pediatric medicine, and is a member of the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine.
