Overview
Participants will explore the comprehensive transplant process for AML patients, including referral procedures necessary for successful transplantation. The session will dive into the complexities of developing initial transplant plans, encompassing donor searches and the management of pre- and post-transplant care. Additionally, the course will address post-transplant maintenance, focusing on strategies to prevent relapse and manage complications such as graft-versus-host disease (GVHD).
Target Audience
This CME initiative was designed for oncologists, surgeons, radiation oncologists, NPs, PAs, pharmacists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals involved in the treatment of patients with cancer.
Learning Objectives
1. Describe the process for referring AML patients to the transplant center
2. Identify potential barriers that might hinder a patient's chances of receiving a transplant
3. Describe the key elements of a holistic pre- and post-transplant care plan
Faculty
Lisa Getzendaner, PA-C, MHS
Lisa graduated from Wilamette University with a Bachelor of Science. She then ventured away from the Northwest and received her Masters of Health Sciences and PA degree from Duke University. She then returned home to Seattle and soon joined the Fred Hutch transplant team in 1993. She has worked in the field of Transplant and more recently Immunotherapy in some capacity ever since. Lisa now leads the Intake APP staff at the Fred Hutch Cancer Center. The team is responsible for intake and coordination of over 450 transplant and immunotherapy patients annually.
